Castle Durrow Small Intimate Wedding

Castle Durrow Wedding – Small Intimate

Small and Intimate Castle Durrow Wedding was planned when Indre and Keith reached out to me a year before their wedding day. The day was originally set to be in October but it had to postponed to December due to the situation globally. Thankfully the couple had always planned an intimate small wedding, which made it easier to manage.

How did you guys meet?
We met at work few years ago and started our love story from distance. I was living in Mullingar and Keith in Limerick. Keith used to visit me few times a week and drive these 2,5 hours journey just to see me for few hours. I remember my dad said – Indre, Keith loves you.. this man travels so much just to see you for few hours and back.

How and when did you get engaged?
Keith proposed on Christmas 2019 with Teja (our daughter) he had her t-shirt ready and asked her to go to mammy and bring little box… when Teja came to me I saw t-shirt with words – “Mammy will you marry my daddy” and then Keith got on one knee. It was so magical…

Describe the Theme of Your Wedding Day
Our Wedding day was planed for 8th October 2020, but because of COVID all was cancelled 2 days before wedding day…. Was really difficult and I didn’t want any wedding by this stage… but Keith asked me to give one more chance and we arranged one more date which one was 5th of December 2020. Theme of wedding was “Pink Princess Castle”, but in the end it became Christmas wedding with pink details 🙂

The Venue

I came in earlier that morning and fell in love with the Wedding Venue at Castle Durrow. It was beautifully decorated in time for the Christmas celebrations.

Morning Preparations

Morning preparations were in a glorious room that was very spacious and magnificent.

Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was very much “to the point” as the bride and groom had their friend to be their Humanist

Family Photos

Family photos were done at the back of the house.

Reception was beautiful, could not describe it in any other way.

First Dance

With a Spotify Playlist on (because no live music permitted) the couple had a lovely first dance.

A piece of advice for future brides?

No matter what.. just go with your gut! Small wedding with 25 people is amazing and we do not regret we’ve done it!

Wedding budget tips

Because the Wedding was small and intimate, some elements of the wedding could be done by bride. Kept the wedding cost lower and price per person. You can request their wedding brochure by getting in touch.

Followed by a beautiful location at Kilkenny Castle and wedding reception at Newpark Hotel, Castlecomer Rd, Newpark Lower, Kilkenny.

Portraits at Kilkenny Castle

After the ceremony we went for a bridal party and the couple photos to Kilkenny castle – the famous Castle 🙂

Reception at Newpark Hotel

The venue has forty acres of parkland and with award-winning landscaped gardens, the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny provides an opulent and perfect backdrop for a wedding day. A bit of a fact – the first ever wedding reception was held at the Newpark Hotel in 1966 and therefore the staff are very experienced in looking after and assisting newlyweds on their most important day.

Wow, what a brilliant day yesterday was! Friends, sunshine and cameras – nothing could spoil it 😉

Myself and my very good friends Ugis Naglins  and his wife Anda Naglina  decided to do a photoshoot of them. They tow are amazingly talented photographers. In fact - this was the very first time for them to be on a Couples shoot! So yesterday, we met up so that we can scout locations for the beautiful shoot.

I am so lucky to be photographing them two - Ugis and Anda who are the nicest and easily the coolest couple you could ever meet! Ugis is an amazing wedding photographer in his own right and Anda is newborn, family and couples photographer so I knew the pressure was on.🙂

For now though, here are some of my favourite photographs from yesterday’s Couples shoot:

On a separate note - I’m just going to say about my favourite and in my opinion the best location in Ireland for a Couples Shoot an engagement shoot or elopement. It’s also my most popular location with visitors to Ireland – Wicklow. Otherwise known as ‘The Garden of Ireland‘ Wicklow is located just outside of Dublin.

Regardless of the weather, the scenery here is beautiful so it doesn’t matter if it is cloudy skies, wet or bright and sunny. It is the best location in Ireland for a Couples shoot an engagement shoot or elopement, it will always work…!

Alternative Wedding Photography [Destination]

The Wedding

An alternative wedding of beautiful princess and prince story. The couple were waiting long for this day and it has finally arrived. The sunny day was filled with so many beautiful moments. We did everything - we went to park, to abandoned building (used it as a background) family photos and friends, smoke bombs, castle photos, forest etc . . . The bride and groom were writing their own speeches and promises to each other that they have then read at the midnight.

The Details

The wedding shoes are fab!! The gorgeous dress and the happy, full of love couple. They have certainly found each other and truly love each other as they are. This wedding took place in a small country Latvia. Groom is originally from Finland and the Bride is from Latvia. The alternative wedding took place in Latvia - hometown of Christina. The couple permanently live in Finland and enjoy each other every day. I could go on about how special this wedding was but really picture paints a thousand words :)

Morning Preparations

Morning was calm and worry free. Although inside the bride understood that this is one of the most important days in her life. Her cousin, (bridesmaid) was with her in the morning, helping to get ready. Brides daughter also helped with the dress and was so much looking forward to see her mummy happy.

The Ceremony

Brides brother was walking her to the altar, where the groom was patiently waiting and trying not to get emotional.

Alternative Wedding portraits

We went to a castle museum for photos and for the newlyweds to write their promises to each other, which they would then read at midnight.

Summer City Wedding

What an amazing day this was. Agate and Mat's Destination Wedding Riga, Latvia was such a pleasure to photograph.

The couple are one of the nicest and most relaxed bride and grooms you could wish to meet. Everything about their special day was perfect. Day started by me photographing Agate at the hotel as she got ready with her bridesmaid. Such a happy atmosphere during the bridal preparations. The bride Agate, I think, definitely wins the prize for being the most relaxed bride ever! Very multi-talented she had put so much effort in the planning and preparation of her wedding. She is a wedding planner herself!

Happy and relaxed was the moto of the day. Vibe of the day was one of happiness and celebration, we had beautiful weather too. The sun didn’t stop shining and it was nothing less than this bride and groom deserved.

The historic Great Cathedral , where couples get married, is absolutely stunning and has so much character. You can feel the history of the place as you walk through the doors. It really is an incredible space to have a ceremony. The garden in particular, where the drinks reception took place, looked beautiful, especially with this being a summer wedding in the city.

After the ceremony and drinks reception around the City Centre, we all made our way over to the Lodge for the wedding reception. This worked really nicely- that the bride and groom had prepared special games for their guests after the speeches. This added to the relaxed and unique feel of the day. Then it was time to party!

I would like to make a special mention to all the staff at Lodge who were fantastic to work with and offered so much help too. It really makes a difference when as a wedding photographer you are welcomed so much on the day so a big thank you to everyone involved for that.

Biggest thank you of all though goes to Agate and Mat for letting me capture their amazing wedding day for them. It has been so nice getting to know you both and I wish you both all the very best for your future together. I know it will be a very long and happy one.

Engagement, Proposal Photography

Sunset, Champagne, Love - perfect combination

Engagement photo ideas -popping bottle, bikes, love, proposal, sunset, summer. . . I mean - how much more perfect such a moment can be! As a photographer, they were dream couple to work with!

Kristine and Dominik were an absolute dream to photograph. They are such a fun and massively loved-up couple, all I had to do was leave them to it and point my camera in their direction. Thank you- this is perfect!

I always like to shoot engagement photographs in the evening if possible. The couple- Kristine's and Dominik's engagement photography at the park is exactly the reason for that – beautiful light. Light is king, as I love to say :)

There are many locations that are suitable for beautiful Engagement or a Couples shoot but one thing that dictates the mood is always light.

Thank you again to both of you and I look forward to seeing you both again soon!
